WSJCrossword.org is an independent reference site for solvers of the Wall Street Journal crossword. Each day we publish the full list of clues from the latest puzzle, and every clue links to its own answer page with the solution, the letter count, a short explanation and the history of that answer in past WSJ grids.

What you will find here

The homepage lists every Across and Down clue for the latest puzzle without revealing any answers, so you can find the one clue you are stuck on without spoiling the rest of the grid. The full answer key for each day, with an explanation for every entry, lives on the puzzle’s own page, and the archive collects every puzzle in our index by month. The Saturday and Sunday grids have a section of their own.

The search bar at the top of every page looks up clues by partial text, and the clue lookup page shows the full list of matches. Results show the clue and the date it ran; the answer is only revealed once you open the clue page.

How the answers are compiled

Answers are added shortly after each puzzle is released and are checked against the completed grid, including the clue number, direction and grid position of every entry. Explanations describe how each entry sits in the grid and flag the standard cluing conventions at work, such as question marks for wordplay, abbreviation cues and plural markers. If you spot an error, please let us know and we will correct it.

Who runs the site

WSJCrossword.org is published by Puzzle Rocket, a small studio that builds word-game and puzzle resources. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones & Company or the puzzle’s editors and constructors. The WSJ crossword itself is published daily on the WSJ Puzzles page, and we encourage every solver to support the official puzzle.

A note on using answer sites

Looking up a single answer is part of how most solvers learn. Crosswords reward a vocabulary of recurring words and names, and seeing how an entry like EPEE or OBI has been clued before is one of the fastest ways to build it. Our aim is to help you finish today’s puzzle, understand every answer and come back tomorrow a little faster.
